Artist, Terry Brown

About the Artist - Terry Brown

I grew up in the sour, bitter, and tainted air of Akron, Ohio (along with the members of Devo as well as Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders, Joe Walsh, and others) during the city's (disputed) dominance as the "Rubber Capital of the World" in the 50's, 60's, and 70's! A short lived title taken away by the greed of unions and then the greed of the corporations who moved all the union jobs to other countries to take advantage of people and resources in third world countries. Yeah capitalism!!

I was a solid "C" and "D" student within the local public school system. I graduated High School in 1973. I joined the Air Force in 1975 as the American troops were coming home from Vietnam because the GI Bill would pay for 5 years of college back then. (Too bad the government fucked that up as I've paid thousands and thousands more in taxes than they ever gave me : ((

After doing "enough" time in the USAF, I went to art school at Cooper School of Art in Cleveland, Ohio. Wonderful memerable times. I no longer got "C"s and "D"s for my efforts but "A"s instead.

I moved to Silicon Valley (San Jose, Ca) in the mid '80s and worked for companies such as Apple Computer, Adobe Systems, Quark and now with Pixorial.com (a great company with an awesome video service. Check 'em out if you get the chance). I'm currently living in the beautiful "wine country" that is an hour north of San Francisco and trying to balance my life with work, music, family, and art.

I am primarily a figurative artist working in a variety of mediums. These include oils, acrylics, watercolor, and a wide selection of mixed materials. In most cases, I start my pieces working with a model (rather than a photo) in order to get a strong sense of the environment and the emotions within and around the figure. I will then follow up later working with other materials to bring out or infuse a greater sense of what I had initially felt or simply to add a bit of my own personality.

I love art and music to the very core of my being. It’s primal. I create because I must.

If you enjoy anything you see here, either go ahead and buy it or simply let me know you approve or not ; ))

I would appreciate it!

I work with nude models, draw naked women, bare skin as it were, paint in oils, acrylics, mixed media, metallic paints, watercolors, draw with black, red and white charcoal, caran d'ache crayons, photograph art models, draw the figure, create art, shake my head at the human condition, and drink too much wine because I live in the wine country of Northern California where wine is cheaper than bottled water in many local stores ; P
